Because we are a volunteer organization, there simply will be no Killick Coast North Seniors Co-operative without you. We see that as a great opportunity, we love the  possibility of what our community can do together! Volunteering is by no means a one-way proposition. Any of us who have ever volunteered know that giving really is  its own reward. Bringing the skills we’ve honed over a lifetime, sharing them with people who need them, even spending time with other volunteers enhances our own  sense of meaning and belonging. The small, everyday things we help out with as volunteers can make a great difference in someone’s life, whether it’s engaging with  them socially, taking them to an appointment, grocery shopping or helping with some gardening or chores at their home.
We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about helping older adults in our community. Volunteers provide a wide range of services to our members and the  public. They also help with administration of our co-operative. Many of our volunteers also decide to become members and many of our members also serve as  volunteers. As a volunteer, you decide your schedule and service activities. All our volunteers are welcome to participate in social activities and outings together with  our members. Volunteers are invited and encouraged to become members, but they are not required to.
Ready to become a volunteer?
If you have even an hour now and then to drive to the grocery store, change a lightbulb, deliver a meal, walk a dog or make a telephone call, you can make a difference! You’ll not only make life easier for a neighbour, but meet new friends and know that you are joining a team that is making an important contribution to the community (see Volunteer Benefits for volunteering can do for you).
If you want to volunteer, please complete the application form below. You will receive a confirmation email and we will review your application and email you a “Volunteer Exemption Letter” which will exempt you from the fees normally charged by the RNC. You will then need to apply for and provide us with a Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC).
Please complete the application for “Criminal Records Screening Certificate
& Vulnerable Sector Check“. For “Reason for request” select “Volunteer” and attach the “Volunteer Exemption Letter” we emailed you.Â
Following your submission, the RNC will process your application (may take up to 4 weeks) and send the Certificate directly to us. As soon as we have received the Certificate we will continue processing and approving your application. We will confirm your approved status and invite you to our next volunteer orientation session.
